Sculptor - René Paris
Title - Race Horse and Jockey
Lost Wax Cast Bronze Valsuani Circa 1910 7 1/4" height by 10" length (18.4 cm by 25.4 cm)
Rene Paris was a very talented sculptor and some of his best works are of Race Horses. He was adept at capturing their movement and grace in his models.
This bronze is of a young Race Horse running with a Jockey up. It is titled on the base "A Two Year Old's Canter" written out in English so this model was probably intended for the English or American market.
The detail and cast is superb, it was cast in the Lost Wax technique (Cire Perdue) by the famous Valsuani Foundry of Paris and even shows the artist's fingerprints in the bronze. It is finished in a medium brown patina.
