Dubucand was a prolific sculptor who created a variety of subjects while specializing in Animalier models. Some of his more unusual bronzes depicted Arab life in French occupied North Africa, those include an Arab Boy and Donkey, an Ostrich Hunt, and several Arab riders and their horses, including this model of an Arab Stallion who was also done in a grouping with an Arab rider and 2 Greyhounds.
This fine bronze shows a powerful Arab Stallion standing alert with his ears pricked and neck arched. The bronze has a warm light brown patina and shows fine details to the horse's mane and tail, his musculature is also well sculpted. A wonderful portrait of a proud Stallion that would enhance any collection.
