Moigniez is well known for this traditional Animalier works but he also created some decorative pieces and functional objects, such as tazzas, candelabras, urns, trays, and match safes.

This fine small bronze shows a Dog facing a Cat standing on top of a barrel with a basket holding grain at the base of the barrel. Two rats are looking at the grain in the basket, and would be caught by the Cat except the Cat has been chased by the Dog. A story told in bronze of farm yard life.

The bronze has a rich dark brown patina with sharp details, and is signed on the base. The barrel would hold the matches and they would be struck on the rough texture of the base to light them. A rare model and an unusual subject.
