This finely detailed and finished bronze of the famous 19th century Race Horse Kincsem is superb example of Isidore Bonheur's talent at presenting the superb race horses of his day. Kinscem was a wonder horse, she won 54 races in 5 countries from 1876 to 1883 and held the distinction of never having lost a race.

This bronze sculpture of Kincsem by Bonheur is unusual in that it is normally found with a jockey up and rarely encountered as a portrait of just the mare alone. The bronze sculpture is finished in a beautiful rich dark brown patina and was cast in the 1870s.

This bronze sculpture is illustrated in the books:
Bronzes of the 19th Century by Pierre Kjellberg, pg. 103
