Title - Monarch of the Rockies

Lost Wax Cast Bronze
Classic Bronze #4 of 30 casts

4 3/4" height by 5 1/2" length
(12 cm by 14 cm)

Charlie Russell sculpted many small models of wild animals of the west. He did a few designed as small ashtrays or coin dishes and this Big Horn Sheep titled "Monarch of the Rockies" is one of those. It was first cast in bronze by Homer Britzman in 1941 in a small edition of 9 numbered casts. Later on in the 1950s and 1960s, the copyright ran out on these models and a few were cast from the original molds by Classic Bronze Foundry in California. This bronze is from that edition and it is signed, marked and numbered 4 of 30. It has good detail and a rich red brown patina.
