Jane Le Soudier was born in 1885 and worked as an Animalier sculptor in Paris. She sculpted primarily domestic animals such as sheep, cattle, and dogs and cats. She also did a large group of Two Roosters facing each other with a clock set into the rocky base. Her work is well modeled and was cast by the leading foundries of the early 20th century.

This fine bronze of a Wolf shows the animal sitting alertly watching. He is sculpted with a rough technique that is impressionistic, yet realistic. The Wolf has a rich brown and green patina and was cast by the Le Blanc Barbedienne Foundry in Paris, it has their seal on the base. A handsome bronze and a rare model by one of the few women sculptors of the time.
